Charge Sheet Filed in Tragic Worli Hit-and-Run Case Involving Shiv Sena Leader's Son

The Worli police have officially filed a charge sheet in the tragic hit-and-run case involving Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of July 7, resulted in the death of 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhawa and left her husband, Pradeep Nakhawa, injured.

The comprehensive 716-page charge sheet, submitted to a sessions court in Sewri, names Mihir Shah, his father Rajesh, and their driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, as the accused. Notably, the police have included charges of drunk driving against Mihir Shah, who was allegedly behind the wheel when their BMW collided with the two-wheeler. According to investigators, Shah had consumed alcohol at several locations prior to the accident. Although his blood sample tested negative for alcohol, police attribute this to the delay in his arrest, which occurred two days after the incident. Witness statements, CCTV footage, and payment records from a Malad bar where Shah reportedly purchased beer have all contributed to the drunk driving charge.

The charge sheet cites 38 witnesses, including bystanders to the accident and employees from establishments where Mihir consumed alcohol. Rajesh Shah, who was arrested on July 7 and released on bail the following day, faces accusations of aiding his son in evading capture. Reports suggest he instructed Bidawat, who was present in the vehicle during the accident, to switch seats after the collision.

The investigation indicates that Mihir's BMW struck the scooter on Annie Besant Road around 5:30 AM. Pradeep Nakhawa was thrown from the scooter, while Kaveri became trapped between the car's bonnet and front tyre. The accused allegedly dragged her for 1.5 kilometers before stopping near the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, where they disentangled her from the vehicle. Disturbingly, Bidawat is accused of running over Kaveri in reverse before fleeing the scene, leaving the luxury car abandoned in Kala Nagar, Bandra East.
